Fort Worth, TX - Paul Bartolucci came up with an RBI double for the Grand Prairie AirHogs in the top of the ninth inning to cap a come from behind victory, 6-4, over the Fort Worth Cats at LaGrave Field on Friday night.
With the score tied at 4-4, the AirHogs came up clutch in the top of the ninth inning. inning. Billy Munoz led off with a single and advanced to second on a walk to Edwin Maldonado. Brandon Carter followed with a sacrifice bunt that moved runners to second and third. The stage was set for Paul Bartolucci. He came up to the plate and blasted a line drive down the left field line that scored Munoz and Maldonado, while reaching second on the RBI double. Bartolucci finished the night 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs.
Fort Worth jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Brian Fryer reached on a single and advanced to second on a stolen base. After reaching third on a wild pitch, he would score on a line drive single into right center by designated hitter John Allen.
With the bases loaded and two down in the bottom of the fourth, Fort Worth added three more runs. Brian Fryer came up with a two RBI single through the middle of the infield, that Brandon Carter couldn't back-hand by the bag. Aaron Sisk and Ken Loop scored first and Willie James was plated after Holder made a fielding error in center.
Grand Prairie broke up a no-hitter in the top of the fifth with two base hits. Brandon Carter came up to the plate with runners and second and third. He cranked a line drive into shallow right field that plated David Espinosa and Billy Munoz, cutting the AirHogs deficit to 4-2.
In the top of the seventh, the AirHogs tied the score at 4-4. Brandon Carter came up with a line drive down the right field line to bring the first run. With runners on the corners, Paul Bartolucci broke out of an 0-for-16 slump at the plate with a flare into short center field that brought in Edwin Maldonado for the tieing run. Grand Prairie left runners on first and third to end the inning.
Vinnie DeCristofaro (1-0) earned his first victory of the season in one inning of scoreless relief. James Morrison completed the ninth inning from the mound and earned his fourth save of the season. Nat Harris started the game for Grand Prairie. He lasted five innings and allowed four runs on five hits with six strikeouts and four walks. Dan Grybash lasted 6.2 innings as the starter for Fort Worth. He allowed four runs on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Grand Prairie will be back in action on Saturday, May 30, taking on the Fort Worth Cats at La Grave Field in Fort Worth, TX. LHP Justin Garcia (1-0) will make his starting debut against Lee Gwaltney (0-0)
