The Condors Want You
September 20, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
The Bakersfield Condors have two key events this week to prepare for the drop of the puck in less than a month. Tryouts for national anthem singers are this Wednesday, September 22nd and the annual Job Fair will be held on Thursday, September 23rd.
Interested singers can have their turn to belt out the American National Anthem for the Condors panel of judges on Wednesday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. They will have to perform the song "A cappella" at Centennial Garden. With the addition of the Victoria Salmon Kings to the ECHL, the Canadian National Anthem will have to be performed as well for the nights they come to town, so knowledge of that song is a bonus.
The selected performers will be scheduled to perform throughout the season. Anyone wishing to try out should contact Condors Director of Community Relations John Ayre at 324-PUCK.
The following day, on Thursday, the Condors will hold their annual Job Fair at the Holiday Inn Select. The Condors will be looking for individuals to assist on game days in the areas listed below.
· Merchandise sales · Program sales · Giveaway Distribution · Chuck-A-Puck sales/clean up · Slapshot game · Fan entertainment crew · Mascots · Press box assistant
The Job Fair will be held at the Holiday Inn Select at 801 Truxtun Avenue in the Sumner Room from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public and no appointment is necessary.
"The job fair is an important event every year," said Condors President Matthew Riley. "We've won three awards in our history for Game Presentation and it's something we take a lot of pride in. The friendly, motivated people we hire at this event will go a long way in determining our success in that regard. For anyone interested in working behind the scenes with a professional sports organization, this is a great way to start on the ground level."
The Bakersfield Condors second season in the ECHL opens in 32 days at home on October 22nd against the expansion Victoria Salmon Kings. Ticket packages are on sale now for as low as $30. Contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) to secure your seat location.
