Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The start of the 2007-08 10th Anniversary Season is just 73 days away and it's time to gear up for the games. All of the hard-hitting, pulse-pounding action of Bakersfield Condors hockey is set to return, and of course that means great promotional nights as well.

The season is once again stacked with plenty of special giveaways, guests and events, for kids and adults of all ages. There are more events to come, with a complete list to be released in September.

It starts on Opening Weekend, with Magnetic Schedule Giveaway on Friday, Oct. 19, and the first of two Bobblehead Giveaways the next night, Saturday, Oct. 20.

Among the favorite items from the past that will be making a return include Team Poster Giveaway on Friday, Nov. 16, Goalie Mask Giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 1, Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, Jan. 12, Cap Giveaway on Friday, Jan. 18 and a second Bobblehead Giveaway on Saturday, Feb. 23. All of these games can be selected as part of a Pick 6 Plan, which are on sale now.

There will also be some new, cool items only found at Condors games, including Bronze Statues on Saturday, Dec. 29, and a Hockey Stick & Puck Street Hockey Set on Friday, March 28.

There are plenty of popular visitors making another trip to Condorstown, including Dora the Explorer on Saturday, Dec. 15, and her cousin, Diego, on Saturday, Jan. 5. Those are also two of the six Kids Club games, where all members of the Condors Kids Club get in free. Members, ages 12-and-under, can sign up by visiting Condorskids.com or by clicking here. Sign-up by Sept. 1 for the early bird special. A full schedule of the Kids Club games is listed below.

As well, those in Condorstown will have another chance to catch all the wild and crazy antics of the ZOOperstars on Friday, Jan. 25, and SpongeBob Squarepants on Saturday, March 8.

Two big charitable events are already set, with the annual Teddy Bear Toss taking place on Saturday, Nov. 24, and the Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon game on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The third annual Field Trip & Businessperson's Special will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, and will again be a special 10:30 a.m. start, perfect for a long lunch break and a chance for school children to get involved in unique lessons and projects with hockey as the backdrop. All kids in attendance will receive educational packets that connect hockey with school subjects, like math, science and history. Teachers or principals interested in having their school come out should contact the Condors at 324-PUCK (7825).

"One of our core commitments is to always provide the community with top notch entertainment," President Matthew Riley said. "Every year, we try to bring the best and brightest to Condorstown and we can't wait to announce the completed list next month once we've finalized all the details."
