The Aftermath: Storm's Season Ends in Overtime Loss

FARGO, ND - The Tri-City Storm's season came to an end Saturday night at Scheels Arena in a 3-2 overtime loss in Game #2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Jacob Jeannette and Alex Bump each netted a goal for Tri-City in the team's final game of the postseason.

Jacob Jeannette gave the Storm the lead with an even-strength goal netted at 6:58 of Saturday's opening period. The goal was assisted by Cam O'Neill and Philippe Blais-Savoie. Tri-City outshot Fargo 12-8 in the 1st period, and carried a one-goal advantage into the middle period.

The lone goal of the 2nd period was scored by Charlie Russell at 8:06 of the period. The goal was netted even strength. The Storm outshot the Force 12-8 in the 2nd period, and Saturday's 3rd period began in a 1-1 tie.

Verner Miettinen scored his second goal of the playoffs at 1:39 of the 3rd period to give the Force a 2-1 lead in the matchup. The goal was scored on the powerplay, and was assisted by Joe Palodichuk. Alex Bump scored the Storm's final goal of the postseason with less than three minutes to play in Saturday's 3rd period to force an overtime finish. Bump's goal was his third of the playoffs, and was netted at 17:39 of the period. Jake Richard and Kieran Cebrian each recorded an assist on the scoring play. The Force outshot the Storm 13-6 in the 3rd period.

Charlie Russell netted a shorthanded goal at 1:38 of the overtime period to seal a 3-2 win for Fargo. Kevin Scott tallied an assist on the game-winning goal. Each team recorded 31 shots on goal during Saturday's playoff game.

Cameron Korpi dropped the game in net for the Storm after making 28 saves on 31 shots. Matej Marinov recorded the win in goal for the Force after turning away 29 of the Storm's 31 shots on net.

Tri-City finished the regular season with a final record of 34-20-4-4. The Storm opened the Clark Cup Playoffs with a two-game sweep over the Sioux City Musketeers at the Viaero Center earlier this week.
