That's 4 in a Row; Rebels Defeat Blades 6-4

March 12, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Red Deer Rebels News Release

The Rebels entered Wednesday's game versus the Blades five points back of Calgary and Medicine Hat for top spot in the WHL Central Division.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels opened the scoring with an early powerplay goal from Scott Feser, who has refound his scoring touch over the last couple of weeks. Adam Musil collected the lone assist on Feser's 14th goal of the season 4:26 into the game.

Red Deer went up 2-0 at the 12:21 mark as Meyer Nell and Brooks Maxwell hooked up on a pretty shorthanded passing play that ended with Maxwell's 22nd goal of the season.

Saskatoon got one back less than a minute later, on the powerplay, as Nikita Soshnin batted the puck down from the top of the Rebels net to put in his 10th goal of the year. The goal would be upheld by video review to cut the Rebels lead to 2-1.

Another powerplay marker of their own would restore Red Deer's two-goal lead at the 17:51 mark. Maxwell collected a rebound from Riley Sheen's shot and put home home his second goal of the night. Wyatt Johnson also assisted on the goal that gave the Rebels a 3-1 lead.

SECOND PERIOD

The lone goal of the middle period came at the 14:04 mark as former Rebel Mason McCarty out home a rebound past Rylan Toth for his 7th goal of the year.

THIRD PERIOD

Maxwell collected his hat trick goal when he got his stick on Nelson Nogier's point shot to tip it past Blades goalie Nik Amundrud. Sheen also assisted on the 4-2 Rebels goal 4:10 into the final frame.

The 20-year-old from Raymond, Alberta would not stop there as a few minutes later he'd tip home a beauty pass from Sheen for his fourth goal of the night, 25th of the season. Nogier again assisted on the goal at 10:16 for a 5-2 Rebels lead.

Feser would net his second goal of the night, 15th of the year, shorthanded at the 14:05 mark. Wyatt Johnson and Haydn Fleury picked up the assists.

Cameron Hebig then scored twice for the Blades within 3:30 to make it a 6-4 game, setting up an interesting finish to this one.

However, the Rebels wouldn't allow the Blades to mount much of a late attack as they held on for the two-goal victory.
