Thatcher Bell signed to an ATO

The Manitoba Moose announced that centreman Thatcher Bell has signed a amateur tryout contract with the Moose.

Bell recently finished his 2001-02 junior hockey season with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In 29 games, the 6'0 forward notched 12 goals and 27 assists with 50 penalty minutes. He was the team's eighth leading scorer and also had four power play tallies with two game winners.

The Charlottetown, PEI native has played the last four seasons with Rimouski. Last season, Bell played in 46 games and set a career high in goals with 27 while adding 32 assists for 59 points. During last season's playoffs, he averaged over a point a game with 13 points (six goals and seven assists) in 11 games. In 1999-00 season, he set career highs in assists (43) and points (69). The centreman was scoreless in five playoff games in 2000. In his rookie season with Oceanic, Bell played 64 games and had 54 points (16 goals and 38 assists) with 67 PIM. In four seasons, the centreman has notched 221 points in 192 QMJHL games.

The 20 year-old was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round, 71st overall, during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Bell will be joining the team in Worcester for tomorrow's game two of the best-of-three Eastern Conference qualifying series.
