Texas's Brett Ritchie Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

December 29, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Texas Stars right wing Brett Ritchie has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 28, 2014.

Ritchie scored five goals - including two game-winners - and registered a plus-7 rating in three games for Texas last week.

Ritchie was scoreless with an even rating in Friday's 7-3 loss at San Antonio, but he got the Stars back in the win column on Saturday in a 4-2 win over Charlotte, scoring three of the team's four goals for his second career hat trick and recording 10 of Texas's 24 shots on net. Ritchie closed out the busy weekend on Sunday evening with two more goals and a plus-4 to help the Stars past San Antonio, 6-3.

A second-round draft choice (44th overall) by the Dallas Stars in 2011, Ritchie leads Texas in goals (11), plus/minus (+10) and shots on goal (99) and is tied for third on the team in points (18) over 22 games played this season. The 21-year-old native of Orangeville, Ont., notched 22 goals and 26 assists in 68 games as a rookie with the Stars in 2013-14, and added 11 points in 13 playoff games as Texas won the Calder Cup.

In recognition of his achievement, Ritchie will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Stars home game.
