FRISCO, TEXAS (April 9, 2010) - It's more than an announcement; it's the answer to the most-asked question of NBA D-League Frisco staff: "What is your team name?" After thousands submissions, one name emerges triumphant over all others.

Team owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly will reveal their team name this Saturday at 6:00 pm just prior to the Harlem Globetrotters game at Dr Pepper Arena where the team begins play this November.

"Happy birthday Texas ___________!" Nelson commented. "We want to thank our fans all over the world for their creative contributions. We've had an absolute blast with this and now it's time to name the winner! Join us this Saturday as we celebrate the birth of a franchise!"

Name suggestions were narrowed to three finalists after fans submitted their favorite names over the past five months. Suggestions poured in from the Metroplex, all corners of the United States, and even as far away as Europe, China, and Australia.

"I'm glad that Spud Webb likes our team name, even though the finalists didn't include his favorite, the Texas Spuds," Wyly commented.

Prior to the announcement, NBA D-League Frisco will host the "Dunkin Donuts All-Star Shoot-around" from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. All are welcome to join the team at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco to shoot on the 2010 NBA All-Star court - the same one used at Cowboys Stadium. The event is free to the public.

The world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters hit the 2010 All-Star basketball court at the Dr Pepper Arena at 7:00 pm. On Sunday---again at no charge---NBA D-League Frisco will host the "InTouch Credit Union All-Star Shoot-around" from 1-4 pm, providing fans yet another opportunity to enjoy the record-setting NBA court.

"This basketball birthday party is going to last three days!" Nelson added. "Friday night kicks off with Battle of the Badges, as our local police and firemen duel it out on the hardwood. All proceeds go to the families of the fallen. Saturday, don't miss the world famous Harlem Globetrotters... the greatest show in high tops! Also, Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm and Sunday from 1-4 pm join us for our NBA All-Star floor shoot-around! Play on the same Cowboys Stadium floor where Dirk, Kobe and LeBron made history! This is our way of saying thank you to the best fans in Texas!"
