Fort Wayne's Rob Kurz Signs With Chicago Bulls

NEW YORK, April 9, 2010 - The Chicago Bulls today signed forward Rob Kurz of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, making him the record 35th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Kurz joins 80 current NBA players with NBA D-League experience.

Kurz has appeared in 39 games, 35 starts, for Fort Wayne this season. He averaged 17.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 37.1 minutes, scoring in double figures 35 times. He scored a season-high 27 points in a 100-83 road win over the Springfield Armor on April 1, and pulled down a season-high 24 rebounds in a 103-97 road win at Sioux Falls on Jan. 16.

A presence for Fort Wayne all season long, Kurz led the team in rebounds in 26 games, and was the leading scorer 11 times. A 2010 NBA D-League All-Star, Kurz scored nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds in February in Dallas.

Undrafted out of Notre Dame, Kurz returns to the NBA having played with the Golden State Warriors during the 2008-09 season. In 40 career NBA games with Golden State, Kurz averaged 3.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 11.1 minutes, earning five starts.

During his four-year career at Notre Dame, Kurz averaged 12.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 33 games his senior year when the Irish were the Big East's runner-up.

Kurz is expected to join the Bulls today and be available tonight when the team travels to face the New Jersey Nets.
