Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa - A bounce back shooting performance and a big second quarter helped lead the Texas Legends to a 135-118 win over the Iowa Wolves on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
Texas (5-3) turned a 12-point second-quarter deficit into a 65-59 lead at halftime and never trailed again as the Legends split the series with Iowa (5-2), which dropped its first regular season home game to drop into second place in the Western Conference standings.
Legends' guard Dakota Mathias, coming off back-to-back 10-day contracts with the Memphis Grizzlies, made his G League return and poured in 26 points. Wolves' guard Isaiah Briscoe matched Mathias with 26 points and flirted with a triple-double with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Iowa, which used a big second quarter to cruise to Sunday's victory over Texas, didn't have an answer Tuesday after it fell behind. The Legends made 13 three-pointers and finished at 56.0 percent from the floor. Texas won the rebounding battle 44-37 after Iowa claimed it Sunday.
For Iowa, Isaiah Miller had another strong game with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Brandon Sampson added 19 points.
Justin Jackson had 25 points for Texas while Feron Hunt and Carlik Jones added 23 and 21 points, respectively.
Iowa makes its second trip to California in two weeks as it visits Agua Caliente Thursday night for a 9 p.m. CT tip on ESPN+. The Clippers lead the Wolves by half a game going into their game tonight versus Sioux Falls. On Friday night, the Wolves close their trip with its first meeting this year against Stockton at 9 p.m. CT.
