EDINBURG, TX - The Santa Cruz Warriors (4-5) lost to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (5-3) on Tuesday night, 134-110.
Santa Cruz came within two points of the Vipers with 4:10 remaining in the second quarter, after being down by as many as 19 points in the first half, but the Vipers finished the half on a 21-9 run to go into halftime leading by 14 points, 73-59. Vipers Guard Christian Vital came off the bench and scored 21 first half points.
The Vipers came out of halftime on a 10-0 run and held the Warriors to only 15 third quarter points to go into the final frame leading, 108-74. The Warriors battled in the fourth to outscore the Vipers, 36-26, but it was not enough to win the game.
Guard Kalob Ledoux (17 points) and Guard Eli Pemberton (15 points) both came off the bench for the Warriors and were the top two scorers for the team. Golden State Warriors Two-Way Guard Quinndary Weatherspoon added 14 points.
Both of the Houston Rockets two-way players suited up for the Vipers. Guard Daishen Nix fouled out with 30 points and guard Trevelin Queen tallied 10 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Vital led all scorers and finished the night with 31 points. The Vipers have now won their past four games.
