Arkansas Travelers News Release
Ray Winder Field, Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers and the Texas League announce the rosters for the 2006 Texas League All-Star Game, which will be played at Ray Winder Field on Tuesday, June 20. Arkansas will be represented by Brandon Wood and Eric Rodland, who each will start the game. Normally the Travs starting shortstop, Wood will be the North's starting designated hitter. Wood leads the league with 21 doubles and 34 extra base-hits, while ranking 4th with 21 home runs, 41 RBI and a .565 slugging percentage. Rodland, who holds the league's fifth highest batting average (.322), will start at second base. The South Division-leading Corpus Christi Hooks boast nine All-Stars to lead all Texas League teams. The Tulsa Drillers lead the North Divison in the standings and with 8 All-Stars as well. The North will be led by the Travs Manager Tyrone Boykin's coaching staff, while Dave Clark and his Hooks' coaching staff will pilot the South.
Tickets are still available for the 2006 Texas League All-Star Game. Box seats for all ages are $8 while general admission prices are $6 for adults and $3 for kids 14-and-under.
For the first time since 1998, the Travelers are the hosts of the Texas League All-Star Game presented by Arkansas Federal Credit Union. Come out early to see the Texas League Home Run Derby preliminary round and meet former Major League All-Star and current ESPN Baseball analyst John Kruk. We'll also have the national finals of the Nuttiest Fan Contest and Peanut Throwing Contest from Reese's Really Nuts. The finals of the Texas League Home Run Derby will take place at the end of the third inning. The first pitch will be thrown at 7:10 p.m, but the Home Run Derby begins at 6:00 p.m. Gates open 5:00 p.m.
