
Four Cardinals to play on Texas League all-star team

The Texas League announced it's 2006 All Star Team on Monday afternoon, as four Springfield Cardinals will participate in the June 20th event, to be held at Ray Winder Field in Little Rock, AR.
Outfielder Reid Gorecki, third baseman Rico Washington and pitchers Stuart Pomeranz and Mark Worrell were the four Cardinals selected to the North Division squad.
Gorecki, who is the only Cardinal to make the starting lineup, is batting .263 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs in 52 games.
Washington, a reserve, is third in the Texas League in both batting average (.326) and home runs (12). The first year member of the Cardinals' organization leads the Texas League in RBIs with 50.
Pomeranz leads the Cardinals and is tied for the most wins in the Texas League with six. The right-hander is 6-2 with a 3.99 ERA in 11 starts.
Worrell, the Cards' closer, is second in the league in saves with 14.
