Terms of Trade Change

February 18, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – One-half of the trade completed on Feb. 14 between the Fresno Falcons and Long Beach Ice Dogs has been rescinded as defenseman Kevin Haupt failed a physical administered by Long Beach's team physician. Haupt will return to the Falcons and center Jeff Attard will remain with the Ice Dogs.

Haupt was suffering from a sprained right ankle when playing for the Falcons but had been cleared by Fresno's team medical staff to play. The Ice Dogs' team doctors made a different determination that the ankle was not fit to play on, which according to league rule nullifies the trade.

The other half of the trade completed last week, Fresno center Mike Barrie to Long Beach in exchange for winger Chris Kenady, remains in effect.

The Falcons also learned earlier today that center Ryan Duthie has left the club without notifying team officials. Duthie has been suspended by Falcons head coach and general manager Blaine Moore.

"With regard to the trade, it's not an easy situation, but we first need to figure out what exactly needs to be done with Kevin's ankle before we can move on," said Moore. "As far as Ryan Duthie goes, I'm very disappointed in his lack of professionalism and the way he failed to live up to his commitment to the team.

Fresno defeated the San Diego Gulls yesterday afternoon, 4-3, to move within four points of third place in the league. The team will complete a three-game home stand on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. against the Gulls before embarking on an 11-game road trip. Tickets are still available for Friday's game at the Selland Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
