Vancouver Whitecaps FC News Release

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC officially welcomed TELUS as the club's premier partner through 2027. The multi-year partnership brings together two longstanding Vancouver-based organizations with a proven and shared commitment to drive meaningful change in their local communities. To kick off the new partnership and the 2023 season, later this morning Whitecaps FC will unveil its new 2023 jersey, featuring the iconic TELUS brand.

The new jersey prominently featuring TELUS, will hit the field for the first time at the Whitecaps FC home opener on Saturday, February 25. To celebrate the new partnership, TELUS team members will be giving away co-branded Whitecaps FC scarves to every fan attending the match. They will be handed out at all entrances.

"We're extremely proud to welcome an iconic and leading Canadian brand like TELUS to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC family," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. Headquartered in Vancouver, BC, the global technology company has a long history of giving back and supporting charities across Canada. Last year alone, TELUS generously devoted $125 million and 1.44 million volunteer hours, five per cent of its pre-tax profits - more than any company in Canada.

"At TELUS, we're focused on connecting Canadians to the people and activities they're most passionate about, and we know how connected Canadians are to their favourite sports teams," said Jill Schnarr, chief brand and communications officer, TELUS. "Partnering with Vancouver Whitecaps FC was a natural fit for us given our hometown connection and deep-rooted commitment in the Canadian sports community. As an organization committed to giving where we live, we are thrilled to be the premier partner of the Whitecaps and look forward to working together to drive positive social change through the power of sport."

In addition to becoming the official jersey partner for the Whitecaps FC first team, TELUS will feature on all jerseys for Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS NEXT Pro, the Boys MLS Academy in MLS NEXT and League1 BC, as well as the Girls Elite Academy in League1 BC.

TELUS will also be the presenting partner of Whitecaps FC camps across Canada, supporting nearly 4,000 participants in five provinces last year alone. Furthermore, TELUS joins as a co-presenting partner of the Community Soccer Experience, which in its inaugural year last season, brought free soccer programming to more than 6,000 youth in British Columbia. Together with Whitecaps FC, TELUS will help create opportunities for soccer participation, while inspiring youth to reach their full potential.
