Inter Miami CF Signs Shanyder Borgelin as Homegrown Player

MIAMI - Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed Inter Miami CF II forward Shanyder Borgelin as a Homegrown Player to a contract running through the 2024 MLS season with options for 2025 and 2026. The North Lauderdale, Florida native, who featured for the Club's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate in 2022, joins the First Team after his Priority Homegrown Rights were acquired from the Philadelphia Union in January .

"We're pleased for Shanyder to be able to take this next step and officially join the First Team environment," said Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson. "Shanyder is a talented young player and a great person with the right mentality to continue to progress. We're happy to continue that development here at Inter Miami, his hometown club."

Borgelin, 21, signed for Inter Miami CF II ahead of the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2022. In his first season with the team, the striker was Inter Miami II's leading scorer with 14 goals, which was tied for the fourth-most in the league. He also chipped in with three assists in his 23 appearances, 15 of those starts.

Prior to returning to South Florida and joining Inter Miami, Borgelin spent time in the Philadelphia Union academy and with Philadelphia Union II in the USL Championship, where he made 25 appearances over two seasons.

Borgelin has also featured on the international stage, representing the Haitian men's senior national team on three occasions to date. Notably, he appeared off the bench in Haiti's March 2022 friendly against Guatemala at DRV PNK Stadium.
