Tellqvist recalled to Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that they have recalled goaltender Mikael Tellqvist from the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.

Tellqvist, 24, has appeared in five games for Toronto this season and has a record of 2-0-2 with a 2.51 goals against average. He made a season-high 29 saves to register his first win of the season October 23 at Phoenix. He also recorded the victory in his next start stopping 24 of 25 shots November 2 at Carolina. In addition, he has appeared in 16 games for St. John's and has a record of 7-8-1 with a 2.68 goals against average (one shutout).

Tellqvist has played eight career NHL games for Toronto compiling a record of 3-1-2 with a 2.57 goals against average. The native of Sundbyberg, Sweden was Toronto's third choice, 70th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft. Tellqvist will wear sweater number 32.

Goaltender Mike Minard has been recalled from the Memphis Riverkings of the CHL. Minard has appeared in two games with St. John's this season posting a 1-1-0 record, a 3.36 GAA and a.889 save percentage.

The Maple Leafs play the Syracuse Crunch tonight at Mile One Stadium. The game will be broadcast LIVE on Radio NL (930AM) and www.sjmapleleafs.ca. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm (NT).
