SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League today named Milwaukee Admirals forward Timofei Shishkanov and Rochester Americans defenseman Doug Janik to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star roster for the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic, which will be held Feb. 8-9 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The AHL also announced that PlanetUSA selections Josh Langfeld of Binghamton (recall) and Jaroslav Obsut of Manitoba (injury) will miss the event.

Shishkanov, 20, is having an outstanding start to his pro career with Milwaukee, where his 15 goals and 31 points are both tied for second among all AHL rookies. His plus-15 rating ties him for the team lead and is good for a tie for seventh in the entire league. The Moscow native was a second-round draft choice by Nashville in 2001, and has skated in two NHL games with the Predators this season. Janik, 23, has recorded a goal and 10 assists in 45 games with Rochester this season, and also skated in two NHL contests with the Buffalo Sabres, who selected him in the second round of the 1999 Entry Draft. The native of Agawam, Mass., played three years at the University of Maine, winning a national championship in 1999, and represented the United States at the World Junior Championships in 1999 and 2000.

The 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic will take place at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich., home of the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. The event gets underway on Sun., February 8, with the 2004 AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (ET), with the annual All-Star Game following at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Mon., February 9.
