Rogers Sportsnet to Televise AHL All-Star Classic

The American Hockey League announced today that Canadian sports network Rogers Sportsnet will broadcast live nationally the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic from Grand Rapids, MI on February 8th and 9th, 2004.

On Sunday, Febuary 8th, the AHL All-Stars will participate in the Skills Competition which will be broadcast on the Rogers Sportsnet West region at 3:00 p.m. central standard time.

Then on Monday, February 9th, Rogers Sportsnet will broadcast the 2004 Pepsi AHL All- Star Game live at 6:00 p.m. central standard time from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI.

"We are thrilled to be teaming up with Rogers Sportsnet onced again in providing fans nationally with the opportunity to view the best young stars the American Hockey League has to offer," said David Andrews, AHL President and CEO.

The Manitoba Moose will send one player from their roster to the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic. Forward Brandon Reid has been selected to play with the Canadian All-Star team.

Reid is Manitoba's leading scorer with nine goals and 23 assists for 32 points. He also has two game-winning goals in 47 games so far this season. This will be Reid's first AHL All- Star game.

Moose defenceman Jaroslav Obsut was also scheduled to appear for the PlanetUSA All- Star team, but will be unable to participate due to a foot injury. Obsut is fourth in team scoring with eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points. He is also a +3. This would have been Obsut's first AHL All-Star Classic as well.
