Telegin Named To OHL All-Rookie Team; Finalist For Rookie Of The Year

(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit forward Ivan Telegin was named to the 2009-2010 OHL All-Rookie Second Team, as well as being the third runner-up for the Emms Family Award for the Ontario Hockey League Rookie of the Year. Telegin, who notched 26 goals and 18 assists in his rookie season, was recently named the thirty-third top North American skater eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau in their final draft rankings.

Defense - Ryan Murphy, Kitchener Rangers

Wing - Michael Curtis, Belleville Bulls
Wing - Austin Brassard, Belleville Bulls
Defense - Dougie Hamilton, Niagara IceDogs

Telegin was also one of seven finalists under considered for the Emms Family Award for the Ontario Hockey League Rookie of the Year. The award is presented annually to the OHL's top rookie and is selected by all 20 member club General Managers. Teams were not permitted to vote for a player from their own hockey club. Players received five points for a first place vote, three points for a second place vote and one point for a third place vote. Matt Puempel of the Peterborough Petes earned the top honors with 75 points in the balloting, edging out Oshawa Generals forward Boone Jenner with 49 points and Telegin with17 points.
