Tejeda and Latimore Launch Dingers in Loss

The Harrisburg Senators hit two home runs on Saturday night but the Trenton Thunder took a 6-4 victory in front of 5,359 fans at Metro Bank Park.

Matt Skole laced an RBI double into the right-center field gap to put Harrisburg ahead 1-0 in the first inning. The Thunder tied things up in the second, but Oscar Tejeda lined his first home run as a Senator over the tall left-center field fence, making it 3-1, Harrisburg.

Once again, the Senators' lead didn't last long as Trenton scored three runs in the top of the third inning before adding two more in the fifth. Senators' starter John Simms lasted four innings with six runs allowed on six hits plus five strikeouts. Colin Bates relieved Simms by not allowing a run in two innings of work. Neil Holland was outstanding in innings seven and eight as he retired all six batters he faced - four of which he struck out. Tyler Herron allowed two unearned runs in the ninth inning.

The final Senators' run came on a Quincy Latimore solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Tomorrow afternoon the Senators will play their final home game of 2014 with Austin Voth on the mound for a 2:00 p.m. start.. Trenton will counter with Yankees' prospect, Luis Severino.
