Chesapeake Baysox News Release

Richmond took advantage of Bowie's defensive travails on Saturday night as the Baysox fell by a 7-2 final score.

The Baysox could not get anything going for them on Saturday evening. Bowie committed four errors, had seven wild pitches and a passed ball and saw 16-at-bats with runners in scoring position end with just one RBI. It was one of those nights.

Bowie led off the game by loading the bases with no outs. CF Mike Yastrzemski singled, 3B Niuman Romero walked and 2B Buck Britton singled to start the game. But 1B Chris Marrero popped out and LF KD Kang grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Richmond then grabbed the lead in the second inning. 3B Mario Lisson walked and quickly scored on a double by LF Devin Harris. Harris got third base on a wild pitch and then scored on sacrifice fly by DH Ricky Oropesa to lead 2-0.

The Baysox loaded the bases with nobody out in the third inning but only brought one run home. Richmond answered for three runs, with only one being earned in the bottom of the third inning.

Richmond has a chance to clinch their first playoff berth in three years Sunday afternoon against Bowie.

LHP Nick Additon will get the starting nod with first pitch set for 1:35 p.m. with coverage beginning 20-minutes prior on wnav.com.

Bowie will return for a four-game series Labor Day Weekend with the Altoona Curve Friday, August 29th. Fireworks will follow the August 30th game. Sunday and Monday will be 2:05 p.m. starts. For tickets to the final home series of the year, contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or purchase online at baysox.com.
