Team White Victorious over Team Red 6-2
August 28, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Guelph Storm News Release
The third day of Storm Training Camp gave veterans like Pavel Gogolev and Captain, Cam Hillis their first live game action. The two veterans played on the same line alongside rookie, Braeden Bowman.
Team White cruised past Team Red for a 6-2 win. Team White leaned on Joseph Teasdale who continued his strong play from the first scrimmage by adding two more goals this morning. Gogolev and Hillis connected with Bowman who scored his second goal in as many scrimmages. Other goal scorers for Team White included Ben McFarlane, Matthew Papais and Marko Sikic.
Team White relied on stellar goal-tending this morning. Will Craig started the game and did not allow a goal in his 30 minutes of play. Owen Bennett followed Craig and stopped 3 penalty shots while allowing just 2 goals in the last half of the game.
Team Red could not find very much offense this morning. They did not beat Team White's goal-tending tandem until the third period where Joseph Marra and Evan Tanos scored Team Red's lone goals. They will look to come back firing on offense tonight for the final scrimmage at 6pm.
Dixon Grimes started the game in goal for Team Red and faced an onslaught of shots early and often from Team White. He allowed 3 goals as he tried to slow down the red hot Team White offense. Tanner Wickware took over for Grimes halfway through the second period and also allowed 3 goals.
Team Red will face off one more time against Team White tonight at 6pm for the final scrimmage of training camp. After that the Storm will start their exhibition schedule on Friday versus the Mississauga Steelheads. The first home exhibition game will be on Saturday when the Storm face off against the Flint Firebirds. Click here to purchase tickets.
