London Knights News Release

Fans of the London Knights came to watch hockey and to help out on Wednesday night at Budweiser Gardens at the Green and Gold game.

Over $3,000 was raised to support the families impacted by the Old East Village gas explosion through the Libro Woodman Families Fund set up by the Old East Village Community Association and Life Spin.

The Knights are just the latest organization to support the fund, with all London Tim Hortons franchises donating a collective $33,000 on Tuesday.

So far the fund has reached over $150,000 in the two weeks since the explosion.

On the ice veteran Knights forwards Josh Nelson and Paul Cotter led Team Green to a 6-3 victory over Team Gold. Both players scored twice. Free agent invite Wesley Rees and 2019 draft pick Max McCue had the others. McCue's was scored into an empty net with just over two minutes to play.

New York Rangers draft pick Hunter Skinner scored Team Gold's first goal of the game. Cole Tymkin and former London Jr. Knight and Strathroy Rockets forward Brendan Mairs had the others.

The Knights used five different goaltenders between the two teams. Jordan Kooy, Max Onuska, Brett Brochu, Cameron Smith and Max Beckford all saw playing time.

The Knights officially kick off the pre-season on Friday when they host the Sarnia Sting at Budweiser Gardens at 7:30 pm.
