CORPUS CHRISTI - Everett Teaford gave up one earned run and two hits in eight innings and Alex Gordon and Vance Wilson drove in three runs each to lead Northwest Arkansas past Corpus Christi 9-2 Tuesday at Whataburger Field before 5,355.

The Naturals, who swept the three-game series, improved to 44-37 overall and 8-3 in the second half of Texas League play. Corpus Christi is 36-46 and 5-7. The Hooks have lost four straight and six of seven.

Teaford (3-2) threw 95 pitches, 59 for strikes. The Georgia Southern product had two stretches of nine consecutive retired batters.

Northwest Arkansas bunched five runs on six hits off Hooks starter Sergio Perez during the second and third innings. Cody Clark's two-run single keyed a three-run second in which CodyStrait doubled. Gordon led off the third with a homer to left. Ed Lucas' two-out double down the left-field line and a single up the middle by Wilson produced the fifth tally.

Gordon's RBI ground out made it 6-0 Naturals in the fourth. Wladimir Sutil doubled and later scored on Drew Locke's sacrifice fly in cutting the lead to 6-1.

But Northwest Arkansas grabbed the score right back, making it runs in four straight innings, when Wilson tagged reliever Charlie Weatherby with a two-out homer to left.

The Naturals kept their scoring streak alive in the sixth and extended the lead to 8-1 on Gordon's RBI double to deep center. They made it 9-1 an inning later as Jeff Bianchi raced home after Strait's line-out to left.

Perez (6-8) allowed seven hits, five earned runs, three walks and fanned one in four innings.

The Hooks bus to Tulsa for a three-game series beginning Thursday. Lefties Andy Van Hekken (3-2) and Keith Weiser (5-7) meet at 7:05.
