Buffalo Bandits News Release
BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 1, 2007) --The National Lacrosse League announced today that John Tavares has been named captain of the Eastern Division for the 2007 NLL All-Star Game in Portland, to be played at the Rose Garden on March 10 at 10 p.m. ET. Tavares, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, will be making his sixth All-Star appearance.
Tavares leads Buffalo with 60 points on 25 goals and 35 assists through nine games, which ties him for second in the league. Earlier this season, Tavares became the first player in NLL history to reach the 600-assist mark. Having already broken the league records for points and assists, he is just 22 goals shy of reaching Gary Gait's mark of 596 career goals.
The All-Star Game head coaches and assistant coaches selected the captains for their respective clubs.
