
Tanisha Wright to "Storm the Sound"

SEATTLE - The Seattle Sonics & Storm today announced the first lineup of events for this year's "Stormin' the Sound," an annual community involvement initiative that brings Storm players back into the Seattle community during the WNBA's offseason. Storm guard Tanisha Wright headlines this year's campaign and will be visible throughout the Seattle area at the below locations. Former Storm player Alicia Thompson will also be returning to the Seattle community in the coming weeks.
Scenic Hill Elementary
Friday, Feb. 10, 9:30 a.m.

Wright will host an assembly for students in grades 4-6 and will speak about the importance of education. She will also answer questions about life as a student and a professional athlete. The school earned the visit as part of the Storm's Women in Sports Essay Contest. Alexis Carter, a sixth grader at Scenic Hills, was the contest's grand prize winner.
Greenwood Girls Sports Clinic
Friday, Feb. 10, 3 p.m.
Greenwood Elementary
144 N.W. 80th St.., Seattle
Greenwood Elementary will host its yearly sports clinic in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day that encourages young girls to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in sports. Wright will be on hand to talk about the positive impact of sports and to help facilitate the basketball station.

Friday, Feb. 10, 7:30 p.m.

Alexis Carter, the grand prize winner of the Storm's Women in Sports Essay Contest, will join Wright at center court prior to tipoff for a special recognition ceremony. Five runners up will also be in attendance.
Be Smart - Be Fit - Be Yourself Clinic

Wright will host a clinic for students in grades 6-8 from various local middle schools as part of the WNBA's Be Smart - Be Fit - Be Yourself program. Part of the larger WNBA Cares community initiative, the clinics are designed to encourage teens and women of all ages to learn more about their bodies and the importance of physical fitness. Wright will also sign autographs for the participants and answer questions about her own fitness regimen.
Ronald McDonald House
Saturday, Feb. 11, 6 p.m.
5130 40th Ave. N.E., Seattle
Wright will participate in a 30-minute Q & A session with the children at the house before joining them for movie night, complete with popcorn and prizes. The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home away from home for the families of children who are dealing with cancer or other serious illness.
The Storm will open the 2006 WNBA season against their Western Conference rival Los Angeles Sparks at KeyArena on Sunday, May 21 at 6 p.m. The following Tuesday, May 23, Seattle will host the Houston Comets at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
