Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons announced today that the Phoenix Coyotes have recalled forward Jeff Taffe from the Springfield Falcons. Taffe will join the Coyotes in Minnesota as they prepare to take on the Wild on Friday night.
This will be Taffe's second recall of the season and he currently leads the Falcons in scoring with 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 34 games played. The 6-foot-3, 193-pound native of Hastings, Minnesota also leads the Falcons in game-winning goals with four and is 2nd on the team in power play goals with eight.
Taffe currently ranks 4th in the AHL in rookie scoring and is 2nd among all AHL rookies in power play goals. Taffe led the Falcons in scoring for the month of December, including his first two professional hat tricks against Syracuse on December 6th and again on December 21st. Taffe was named to the Planet USA AHL All-Star Team on January 3rd, the first Falcons rookie since Robert Esche (1998-99) to be named to the mid-season classic. The Falcons acquired Royer on November 21, 2002 from San Antonio and in 20 games with Pensacola this season he has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points and 60 penalty minutes. Royer played in 40 games with the Falcons last season collecting 10 points and 112 penalty minutes.
