January 10, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) - Tacoma Stars News Release

TACOMA, WA - The Tacoma Stars (4-3) return to the accesso ShoWare Center following a four-game road trip which saw the team go 2-2 in that span. The team will face the Monterrey Flash (3-1) Friday night at 7:35 pm in the teams' only meeting during the 2018-19 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season. Pacific Division foe Ontario Fury (6-3) will make their second trip to the home of the Stars on Saturday with a 7:05 pm kickoff.

Monterrey, whose only loss this season was a 7-6 defeat to the San Diego Sockers on December 28 in overtime, comes into the match following an 8-2 beating of the Dallas Sidekicks last weekend at home. The Flash are led offensively by Miguel Vaca's nine points (5G-4A). Franck Tayou is tied for the team lead in goals scored with five. In goal, it is Diego Reynoso and his 4.10 GAA and .724 save percentage which are among the MASL's best. Monterrey is currently in first place in MASL's Southwest Division.

Ontario, a game behind San Diego and a game ahead of the Stars in the Pacific Division, will be Tacoma's opponent for the third time this season. The teams traded 6-3 road wins in their first two matchups. Going into Friday's games, Ontario's +21 goal differential is second only to the Milwaukee Wave's +26 this season.

Helping the Fury in the goal differential category are league leader Adrien Perez with 13 and Juan Carlos Gonzalez and his 11 goals, good for third best in the MASL. Perez also tops the league with his 3.2 points-per-game average. The other Fury player in double digits for points scored this season is Francisco Cordeiro with 11 (5G-6A). The Fury's last action before this weekend came on January 5 in a 3-2 road loss to San Diego.

For the Stars, it is player-coach Nick Perera and his 19 points (9G-10A) which tops the team and is second best in the MASL. Michael Ramos (10 points) and Philip Lund (9 points) round out Tacoma's top three scorers. In his seven games played, Adam West's seven goals, including two game-winners are second best on the squad.
