TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (8-5-6, 30 points) plays its second match in four days as it hosts Phoenix Rising FC (12-3-5, 41 points) Sunday afternoon (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+). Tacoma has yet to lose at home this year, amassing a 6-0-3 record, including a Thursday evening win vs. Las Vegas Lights FC. Phoenix is 4-3-2 on the road this year.
Tacoma currently sits tied for third place in the Pacific Division standings with San Diego Loyal SC. Phoenix sits in first place, 11 points above Tacoma. A win puts Tacoma in second place, vaulting it over Orange County SC.
Following its match on Sunday, Tacoma has a 10-day break before traveling to Oakland Roots SC on September 15 (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
