
RGV FC Draw with Loudoun United at H-E-B Park

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (8-8-6; 30 pts.) draws 1-1 to Loudoun United FC (3-15-2; 11 pts.) on Saturday night at H-E-B Park. The draw extended the Toros winless streak to six games.
The Toros took the lead in the 14th minute after Timothy Mehl conceded a foul in the penalty area on Emilio Ycaza. Elvis Amoh converted the penalty shot to the bottom left corner, 1-0. Amoh scored the 8th goal of the 2021 season with the Toros.
Loudoun equalized six minutes later after Roberto Albuquerque conceded a foul inside the penalty area, allowing Theodore Ku-Dipietro to convert the shot to the top left corner of the goal, 1-1.
RGV FC kicked off the first half with a dangerous attempt by Christian Sorto in the 9th minute but the keeper managed to save the attempt. In the 36th minute Ycaza sent a ball inside the six-yard box where Adrian Diz Pe was able to connect on a sliding attempt, netting the ball. The linesman signaled an offsides on the play, ending the validity of the goal.
In the 42nd minute Rodrigo Lopez sent a through ball to Ycaza where he sent a shot to goal but was saved. Two minutes later Sorto sent another dangerous shot to the near post but was saved.
The second half was kept competitive on both ends. In the 62nd Amoh threatened the goal with a header but was blocked. Two minutes later Ycaza took a right footed shot but was also blocked out of play.
The Toros had three back-to-back situations where Diz Pe had two missed attempts while Lopez also sent a long shot missing to the left. In the 87th minute Sorto sent a long right footed shot from outside the box but was sent over the crossbar.
Loudoun threated Tyler Deric in the 88th minute after Abdoul Amoustapha was able to take on the Toros defense and take a shot but was saved. In stoppage James Murphy took a set piece shot and was saved at the top crossbar.
The Toros totaled 25 shots, eight on target while Loudoun totaled six shots, with two on target.
Lopez created six chances tonight while Murphy was able to create four. Sorto totaled six shots with two on target and Amoh totaled five with two shots on target.
