LouCity Loans Goalkeeper Lefebvre to Colorado Springs
September 4, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville City FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks SC have agreed to a loan deal announced Saturday sending goalkeeper Simone Lefebvre out West for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Terms include an option for Colorado Springs to, for a fee, permanently sign Lefebvre upon the loan's conclusion.
A 24-year-old Frenchman, Lefebvre has appeared on the team sheet for LouCity but has yet to debut for the club, with this the opportunity to receive game minutes.
"Simon has done everything I could have asked for so far this year," said LouCity coach Danny Cruz. "Colorado Springs inquired about getting him in games there. As a club, it's important for us to do right by our players. We wish Simon nothing but the best."
Lefebvre signed in January after spending the back half of the 2020 season with the USL Championship's Loudoun United FC. Loudoun's parent club, Major League Soccer's D.C. United, had previously selected him 21st overall in the SuperDraft out of Temple University.
At 6-foot-9, Lefebvre presents a commanding presence between the posts. He competed for playing time at LouCity with Chris Hubbard and Parker Siegfried, who to this point have split the starting role. With Hubbard unavailable Friday night, 16-year-old Alex Kron made the bench for the boys in purple as a USL Academy signing to back up Siegfried against FC Tulsa.
