Kansas City , KS July 5, 2015- The Kansas City T-Bone used long balls from two rookies and got just enough pitching to beat the Gary South Shore Railcats 5-4 Sunday evening in Kansas City. The win returned the favor of a sweep the RailCats gave Kansas City back on May 29th - 31st.

The RailCats took the lead in the first inning, the first and only lead the club had the entire series. Jon Jones reached on an error from shortstop Vladamir Frias and went to second when the ball went into the stands on the throw. Jones went to third on a wild pitch from T-Bones starter Bobby Doran and raced home, when Adam Taylor hit a ground ball to the right side of the infield.

The Bones would come back in the second and get their first of two homeruns from a rookie. Jacob Haynes took RailCats starter Renee Solis deep with a two run shot to make it 2-1 Kansas City. In the home half of the fourth it was Christian Torres turn go deep as he added another two run shot to make it 4-1.

The South Shore got a run back in the 6th when Tillman Pugh cut the lead to 4-2 with an RBI single. The T-Bones would add another run to make it 5-2 in the seventh and looked to be set until the RailCats made a late run in the ninth.

The RailCats were able to grab two runs and had the tying run on first with two outs but came up just short in their comeback bid. The RailCats have now lost four straight matching their longest losing streak of the season. Kansas City starter Doran (6-1) got the win while RailCats starter Renee Solis (0-4) was charged with the loss. Ferndano Hernadez picked up his sixth save.

The RailCats will open up a four game series with division leading Sioux City and the first of an seven game homestand Monday night at 7:10pm at US Steel Yard.
