Southshore Adds Veteran Bodishbaugh

Kansas City, KS July 5, 2015 -The Gary SouthShore RailCats have made a roster move, signing veteran right-handed reliever Chris Bodishbaugh, and placing LHP Chris Cummins on irrevocable waivers.

Bodishbaugh, who has spent all or part of the past four seasons with the Sioux City Explorers, has a career 4.40 ERA and has pitched the past seven seasons in independent ball after being drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2003 and again in 2005.

On June 12, the Oakley, Calif., native was claimed off waivers by the Amarillo Thunderheads from Sioux City, but he was released two days later without appearing in a game. At 30 years old, Bodishbaugh is the oldest player on the 2015 'Cats squad.

Cummins was acquired last winter when the club sent OF Cody Bishop and RHP Ethan Gibbons to Florence (Frontier League) in exchange for Cummins, RHP Chris Squires and OF Adam Taylor. In 2015 Cummins was 3-3 with a 7.75 ERA in 9 starts for the South Shore. In 40.2 IP the lefty has surrendered 60 hits allowing 35 earned runs with 11 walks and 24 strike outs.

The RailCats will wrap up their weekend series in Kansas City Sunday at 5:05pm and return home to open a four game series with first place Sioux City beginning Monday night at 7:10pm at US Steel Yard.
