Wichita 16, Amarillo 7
The Wichita Wingnuts rolled out a 9-0 lead after just an inning and a half and cruised to a 16-7 win over the Amarillo Thunderheads. Wichita LF TJ Mittelstaedt had a monster game at the plate going 3-for-4 with two home runs, four runs scored and six RBI. Wingnuts RF David Espinosa went 2-for-3 with three runs scored while CF Joash Brodin had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three. Wichita starting pitcher Omar Bencomo received enough run support to notch the victory. Bencomo went 5 2/3 innings giving up six earned runs on nine hits. For Amarillo in the loss, 1B Rene Leveret had a 2-for-3 day with a pair of runs scored and a RBI.
Winnipeg 4, Ottawa 3 (Completion of Suspended Game from July 4)
In the completion of the suspended game from yesterday, the Winnipeg Goldeyes rallied past the Ottawa Champions by the score of 4-3. Winnipeg CF Adam Heisler was the hero of the game as he tied the game up at 3-3 with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning and then drove in the go ahead run in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI single. Heisler finished the contest going 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Goldeyes reliever Brendan Lafferty collected the victory as he tossed a scoreless inning with a hit. Lafferty is now 2-1 on the season.
Ottawa 9, Winnipeg 7 (Regularly Scheduled Game/7 Innings)
After trailing 6-1 through four innings, the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League came roaring back scoring three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to take an 8-6 lead and would go on to win 9-7 over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Ottawa 2B Roberto Ramirez led the offense going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Champions 1B Jon Talley added a three-run home run while CF Sebastien Boucher had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two. Ottawa reliever Tyler Wilson tossed only 1/3 of an inning and picked up the victory. Wilson is now 1-1 on the season with a 0.50 ERA.
Grand Prairie 1, Laredo 0 (10 Innings)
Deadlocked in a scoreless tie, Grand Prairie C Michael Pair doubled home 3B Ridge Hoopii-Haslam in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the AirHogs a 1-0 walk-off victory over the Laredo Lemurs. Starting pitchers, Laredo's Greg Holle and Grand Prairie's Bennett Whitmore, tossed 8 2/3 strong innings but neither factored in the decision. AirHogs reliever Logan Norris earned the win as he allowed a hit in 1 1/3 innings of work. With the win, Norris evened his mark at 2-2 on the year. Pair went 2-for-4 for Grand Prairie while RF Denis Phipps and 3B Juan Silverio each collected two hits for the Lemurs.
