T-Birds Name Lindsay Nielsen Captain

Kent, September 17, 2009 - The Seattle Thunderbirds today named Lindsay Nielsen captain of the 2009-10 team.

Nielsen is entering his fifth year with the T-Birds. Last season Nielsen appeared in 38 games and had 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists. In his WHL career Nielsen has appeared in 218 games and has 35 goals and 52 assists with a plus/minus rating of plus- 15.

Defenseman Thomas Hickey was the T-Birds team captain in the previous two seasons. Hickey will be playing with the Los Angeles Kings or Manchester Monarchs this season. The T-Birds open the 2009-10 season on Friday, September 18, against the Everett Silvertips at 7:35 p.m. at ShoWare Center. They then play the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, September 19, at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m.

The Opening Weekend of games will feature special promotions and two Party On The Plaza events.

All fans at the home opener will receive magnetic schedules and Thunderstix noise makers. The first 1,000 kids at the game on Saturday against the Winterhawks will receive a free kid's hat.

The plaza outside the main doors will feature a beer garden and barbecue. Coke and Vitamin Water will be sampling products for all fans and The Funky Monkey 104.9 FM will be playing music. The Party On The Plaza will start at 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

The doors to ShoWare Center will open at 6 p.m. for both games on Opening Weekend.

Single game tickets to the Opening Weekend games can be purchased on the T-Birds website.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online on the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
