The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce their schedule for the 2017 International League season. Syracuse will begin its 2017 season on Thursday, April 6th, with a home opener against the Rochester Red Wings as part of a season-opening four-game series. As part of a new League scheduling procedure, the Chiefs and all other International League teams will play 142 games, two fewer than the traditional 144.
Syracuse's home schedule will see 13 Dollar Thursday home games in 2017 - the most of any day. In addition, the Chiefs will play 11 Fireworks Friday games, 11 Super Saturday games and 11 Family Sunday games. Syracuse only has five Monday home dates, with eight of the team's 10 off days scheduled for Mondays, along with 10 Tuesday home games and 10 Wednesdays.
The Chiefs' schedule is also balanced throughout the year. Syracuse will play 15 home games in both May and June, a season high for any month. The Chiefs will host 14 games in July, 13 in August, 10 in April and four in September.
Syracuse's most common 2017 opponent will be the Pawtucket Red Sox. The Chiefs and PawSox will match up a season-high 20 times - 10 at each team's stadium. Syracuse will play 90 of its 142 games (63.4%) against the North Division. The Chiefs will play 19 games against the Buffalo Bisons and 17 games against the Rochester Red Wings, Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Out of division, the Chiefs are scheduled for 27 games against West Division teams and 25 against the South Division. Syracuse will face the Gwinnett Braves, Columbus Clippers, Indianapolis Indians and Louisville Bats seven times. The Chiefs will play six games against the Charlotte Knights, Durham Bulls, Norfolk Tides and Toledo Mud Hens.
