Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders hung seven runs on the board in the middle innings and clubbed the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night, 7-3. The RailRiders improved to a season-high 11 games above .500 with their season-best sixth straight road win. The club has scored 55 runs in beginning this road trip 6-0. The Mud Hens have lost seven of eight and 10 of 13.

ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMIN: Ben Gamel went 3-for-5 with a run scored. He also picked up his fourth outfield assist when he helped nail Dixon Machado attempting to leg out a triple in the fourth inning. A .250 hitter after an 0-for-4 showing versus Louisville on May 24, he has since gone 33-for-84 over his last 20 games, slashing .393/.469/.560/1.028. He has his average up to .305 (8th in IL), the highest it has been since he closed play at Rochester on May 1 at .305.

HIT POTION NO. 9: Gary Sanchez doubled and scored. He missed two-and-a-half weeks on the DL (cracked right thumb), but now owns a nine-game hitting streak during which he has gone 13-for-37 with five extra-base hits, eight RBIs and six runs scored slashing .351/.400/.595/.995. He has his batting average up to a season-high .288. He owns the IL's fourth-longest active hitting streak.

I AM THE LAW: Aaron Judge cracked an RBI double on a 2-for-5 night with a run scored. His average bottomed out at .221 after an 0-for-3 day versus Columbus on June 2 during an 0-for-24 tailspin. Since then, he has hit in 11 of 12, going 18-for-44 with two homers, nine RBIs, 11 walks and 17 runs scored. In that time he has slashed .409/.536/.636/1.172 while his average has shot up to .255, the best it has been since an 0-for-3 night in a May 18 nightcap at Louisville had him at .257.

SOL MAN: Donovan Solano went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a walk and a run scored, his fourth multi-hit showing over his last six games. In that six-game span, he has gone 10-for-21, slashing .476/.542/.667/1.208. It has come after a 10-game slide that saw him go 3-for-39, 0XBH, 1BB, 10K.

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders posted their IL-best 22nd road win. At 22-12 away from PNC Field, the club is on pace to win 47 games away from NEPA. That would break the franchise record of 45 set by the Marc Bombard's 2002 Red Barons who won 91 games with players like Chase Utley, Marlon Byrd, Brett Myers and Joe Roa. The 2015 RailRiders led the IL with 42 road wins. The Yankees-era record came in 2012 when the IL North champs won 43 "road" games. That team played without a home stadium during PNC Field's reconstruction and posted all of its 84 wins outside of Moosic.

GETTING SERIESOUS: SWB has won its series at Toledo in consecutive years for the first time as the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate.

OFF THE RAILS: The RailRiders worked seven walks for the fourth straight game...SWB has homered in a season-best six straight games...On the road trip, opposing starters have allowed 33 runs (30 earned) over 26.2 IP against the RailRiders for a 10.13 ERA...Toledo employed the services of six different hurlers on a bullpen day...Scheduled starter Buck Farmer was called up by Detroit on Tuesday...Fill-in starter Dustin Molleken tossed a by-far season-high 86 pitches over three-plus innings...Eight of the nine men in SWB's lineup posted a base hit...The lone exception, Jonathan Diaz, walked three times...After Charlotte was held to one run by Norfolk yesterday, SWB now leads the IL in runs scored at 4.52/game...The RailRiders' 3.21 ERA trails only Indianapolis (3.16)...SWB also ranks among the IL's best offensively in batting average (2nd, .262), on-base percentage (2nd, .329), slugging percentage (3rd, .397) and OPS (3rd, .726)...Pitching-wise, the squad ranks among the IL's best in fewest H/9 IP (T-2nd, 8.1), WHIP (3rd, 1.23), K/9 IP (2nd, 8.3), K:BB ratio (2nd, 2.81) and saves (3rd, 20).
