Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

RABBIT TAILS

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (23-35-7-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, head south for the wee beginning with a Wednesday night showdown with the Florida Everblades (46-13-2-4). The Swamp Rabbits have played four games at Germain Arena this season and finish their seven-game season series with the Everblades on Friday. Greenville has taken a pair of wins against the Eastern Conference leaders this year, posting a pair of shootout victories.

THREE'S COMPANY

Rookie forward Johno May recorded three assists for the Swamp Rabbits on Saturday night. The winger has earned four points (1G, 3A) in his first pro weekend. May posted only two other three-point outings in his collegiate career. The Mahtomedi, Minnesota native recorded his three-point games against Michigan and Air Force during his freshman season. May collected 60 points (22G, 38A) in 143 NCAA games.

NELL IS NEW IN NET

Goaltender Chris Nell was reassigned by the New York Rangers and has joined the Swamp Rabbits from the Wolf Pack. The newest netminder is in his first full campaign after ending the 2016-17 season in Hartford. The Green Bay, Wisconsin native has posted an 8-8-0-0 record in the AHL this season but also has played nine games in the ECHL with Adirondack and Kansas City. The Bowling Green State University alum is 13-15-0-0 in the pro ranks with a 3.27 goals against average and .891 save percentage.

ROOKIE ROCKET

Evan Jasper earned his 50th career point on Saturday night, notching a goal and adding an assist in back-to-back nights. The rookie currently leads Greenville's scoring charge with 48 points (20G, 28A) this season and has earned 10 points (4G, 6A) in his last eight games. The Whitby, Ontario native is on pace for the highest scoring output by a rookie in franchise history. With six games remaining, Jasper would need five points to tie Marc-Olivier Vallerand's rookie season of 2010-11 where he accrued 53 points in 70 games.

FLANNY'S FLYING

Rookie defenseman Sean Flanagan found the back of the net on Saturday to earn his third goal of the season. The blue liner has tallied 25 points in his first pro season and is second on the Swamp Rabbits defensive core in scoring. In the last five games, the Kindersley, Saskatchewan native has collected four points (1G, 3A). After playing 64 games, the Minnesota State, Mankato product ranks eighth among rookie defensemen in the ECHL.

HEARD THAT

Everblades forward Mitchell Heard leads his team in scoring this season and ranks eighth in the ECHL scoring race with 62 points. In his last four outings, the sixth-year pro has notched eight points (2G, 6A). In his last outing against the Swamp Rabbits, Heard posted his first hat trick of the season. Against Greenville, the 6-foot-1 skater has tallied seven points (3G, 4A).

CARROT BITES

Rookie JT Henke has collected six points (4G, 2A) in seven games and net his first career game-winning goal on Saturday. Goaltender Martin Ouellette ranks second in the league with 28 wins and 2.11 goals against average. Evan Jasper ranks seventh in scoring among all rookies in the ECHL this season Florida and Greenville have needed overtime to decide three of their five meetings this season. Florida forward John McCarron leads the Everblades against Greenville this year with 11 points (7G, 4A) in five games.
