Surge Drop Second Straight to Drillers

Wichita Wind Surge News Release
WICHITA, KS - The Wind Surge had no answer for Tulsa's starter Jose Martinez as the offense only recorded four hits on the evening. Wichita has now dropped two straight to Tulsa after a six game winning streak, but still hold the top spot in the league.
Jordan Balazovic was cruising through the first three innings and looked as though he would have another stellar performance on the mound. However, things spiraled out of control in the top of the fourth. In the inning, the Wind Surge had two chances to record a double play that they turned unsuccessfully. The missed chances came back to bite them as the Drillers turned on a two out rally in the inning. After Ryan Noda reached on the second missed double play opportunity and Hunter Feduccia walked to put two on base, Kody Hoese started the scoring with an RBI single. Jacob Amaya and Devin Mann both picked up RBIs during the rally to put the Drillers ahead 3-0. In the fifth inning, another blunder on behalf of the Wind Surge cost them another run. Hunter Feduccia singled to left field with two runners on. Left fielder Ernie De La Trinidad mishandled the ball and allowed Michael Busch to score on the error to make it 4-0 Tulsa.
Wichita's only offense of the night came in the bottom of the ninth inning. After Spencer Steer drew a leadoff walk to start the inning, Trey Cabbage put some life into Riverfront Stadium with a two-run shot to left-center field.
Cabbage's 16th home run of the season cut the Driller lead in half and put some hope in the Surge coming from behind before an out was even recorded. Unfortunately, the home run was all the Wind Surge could do in the inning as they fell in game three of the series.
Jordan Balazovic lasted 6.0 innings in his 16th start of the season. Balazovic allowed four runs on nine hits and struck out five on the night. Mitchell Osnowitz was the first call to the bullpen and did not allow a run or hit in his relief appearance. Osnowitz struck out two in 1.2 innings in his outing. Adam Lau pitched the final 1.1 innings recording one strikeout.
NOTES: With a home run tonight, Trey Cabbage tied Jose Miranda for the organizational lead at 24 home runs this season (16 with Wichita).
COMING UP: Wichita will play game four of the series against the Tulsa Drillers tomorrow evening (8/27). First pitch is set for 7:05 pm from Riverfront Stadium. Wichita will start RHP Chris Vallimont (4-5, 5.87 ERA) against Tulsa's RHP Clayton Beeter (0-0, 3.00 ERA). RADIO/TV: KGSO 1410 AM and 93.9 FM, MiLB.TV and Windsurge.com.
