Detroit City FC News Release
DETROIT, Michigan - For the second week in a row, City is on the road and will travel out west to play Monterey Bay F.C. at Cardinale Stadium at 10:00pm EST in Seaside, California on Saturday July 16. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Last Saturday, DCFC continued their three-match unbeaten streak with a win over the Indy Eleven by a score line of 1-0, enough to claim all three points. Forward Connor Rutz scored off of a header in the fifth minute on a brilliant cross from defender Deklan Wynne. The goal for Rutz was his second goal in three games and Wynne earned his third assist in his last three games. The result caps off a busy week for Le Rouge who played three matches in a span of seven days.
Detroit City now has an 9-6-4 record and currently sit in fifth place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, just six points off first place Louisville City. Le Rouge are level on points with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds who sit in fourth place.
While Rutz earned his second goal in three games last Saturday against Indy, he also scored against the Las Vegas Lights FC the Saturday prior, both game winning goals. He has two goals on the seasons in the USL Championship and sits in fifth place on the team. He has taken 27 shots this season, which leads the team and has him tied for 26th place in the league. Wynne earned his sixth assist of the season against the Indy Eleven, which gives him the team lead in assists and he is now tied for third place in the league. Wynne is also second in all of the USL with 17 accurate crosses.
In Monterey Bay FC's last five games, they have a 1-1-3 record, where they recorded their first draw of the season.
