Surfs Bats Alive

ATLANTIC CITY- The Surf's bats were alive Friday night against Sussex at Bernie Robbins Stadium in front of 3011. The Surf had 16 hits in all and defeated the Skyhawks 12-2.

A big third inning gave the Surf a 4-0 lead, thanks to a double from Josh Renick and singles from Denver Kitch, Lucas Taylor and Ed Montague. Chris Crescenzi made his home debut in Atlantic City for the Surf going 4-for-5 with an RBI. Rob Fischer led the Surf going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI's. Lucas Taylor had three hits in his five at bats and added three runs scored. Sussex's Jabe Bergeron added a late two run homer in the top of the eighth to give the Skyhawks their only runs of the game.

Atlantic City's J.C. Huguet (3-2) picked up the win, putting in five innings of work allowing only two hits, no runs, and six strikeouts. Coogie Freedman came in to retire six batters, four by strike out. Sussex pitcher Brian Ford (1-3) received the loss.

The Surf continue the series tomorrow night at 7:05 PM at Bernie Robbins Stadium against the Skyhawks in game two of their three game series
