ATLANTIC CITY- In a wild one the Surf pulled out a 6-5 victory and took the series from Quebec in front of 1330 at Bernie Robbins Stadium Thursday night.
The Surf came out strong in the bottom of the ninth, when Lucas Taylor took one for the team on the left elbow and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Anthony Granato flied out to the center field warning track advancing Taylor to third. Ed Montague then doubled off the wall to right, scoring Taylor for the tieing run. Wil Quintana reached first on a fielders choice with Montague out on the play. Rob Fischer singled on a slow roller to the third baseman scoring Quintana from second when the ball bounced off Ivan Naccarata's glove.
Quebec was leading the game 5-4 entering the top of the ninth. With two outs and a 2-2 count, during Nick Trainor's at bat rain began to fall heavily. The game was delayed 42 minutes, then Matt Pike struck out Trainor with one pitch.
Quintana added a solo homer in the fourth inning, he also scored two runs in the game.
Matt Pike picks up the win in one inning of relief, and Christian Mendoza received the loss, dropping his record to 0-2.
The Surf will host the Nashua Pride Friday night in game one of the three game series, first pitch is 7:05 PM.
