New Haven County Cutters News Release

WEST HAVEN, CT- The New Haven County Cutters outlasted the Can-Am Grays 6-4 on Thursday night at Historic Yale Field to win the best of three series two games to one.

DH Henri Stanley went two for four with three RBI and just missed a grand slam to right field in the sixth as his bid to right just caught the top of the wall. Stanley also had a run scored. Stanley's two RBI double gave the Cutters the lead for good at 5-3.

The Cutters fell behind 3-1 in the third when Chad Gabriel hit his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot to left that was gone as soon as it was hit. It was the second solo home run of the game for the Grays as Mike Pierre led off the game with a solo shot, his first of the season.

Cutters starter Ryan Bonesio settled down after that and ended up picking up his seventh win of the season (7-5). Richard Bartlett (4-7) suffered the loss and Andy Weimer picked up his 14th save of the season in the ninth.

On a night when over 2,800 plus flocked to Historic Yale Field on Irish night the Cutters came from behind again to win as they have been doing a lot in recent weeks, taking the lead in the later innings. The win gives the Cutters valuable momentum as they head into their weekend series with the New Jersey Jackals. Rolando Valles (3-4) will try to improve his record to 4-4 on the season and will also try to get the Cutters above five hundred for the first time all season. The Cutters improved to 35-35 with the win Thursday night.
