Surf Attendance Up Over Twenty Percent
July 7, 2008 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Atlantic City Surf News Release
Atlantic City, N.J. - Buoyed by Can-Am League-record crowds of 8,016 and 6,984 on July 3 and 4, the Atlantic City Surf have drawn 62,132 fans to Bernie Robbins Stadium through the club's first 23 home games, an average of 2,701 per opening. The total marks a 20.7 percent increase from last season, when the Surf averaged 2,143 fans through games of July 6. In addition, in 2006, the club's final year in the Atlantic League, Atlantic City averaged 2,097 spectators for games between May 26 (the Surf's 2008 opening day) and July 6, 22.3% fewer than in 2008.
"It's a testament to the hard work of our staff this season. We've made a commitment to improving our off-the-field product, and combined with a competitive team, the increase in attendance shows that our work is starting to pay off, even with a slow economy," Surf president Chris Carminucci said.
The Surf are currently third in the league attendance, behind Brockton (3,068 per game) and Quebec (2,874).
