Chris Curran had a single, a triple, a home run and four runs batted in as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Lexington Legends 9-1 Sunday in Hagerstown.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a walk to Telvin Nash, a single by Ben Heath and an RBI single by Mike Kvasnicka.

The Suns answered with a run in the fourth. Blake Kelso led off with a single, moved to second on a one-out single by David Freitas, and scored on a base hit by Kevin Keyes, who was four-for-four in the game, all singles.

Hagerstown took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. Wade Moore and Curran singled, and Michael Taylor drew a walk to load the bases with no outs. Freitas singled home Taylor to give the Suns a 4-1 advantage.

The Suns added two more runs in the sixth. With one out, Moore walked. Curran followed with a triple, and he scored on center fielder Jay Austin's throwing error.

In the bottom of the eighth, Brett Newsome singled, Moore walked and Curran hit a three-run shot over the right field fence to close out the scoring.

Hagerstown starter Ryan Demmin (3-2) pitched the first five innings and got the win. Quevedo (7-5) was the losing pitcher.

The two teams meet again Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
