KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 14, 2011) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators couldn't overcome an early 4-run inning by the West Virginia Power, falling 6-3 on Sunday evening at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

The Power jumped in front with four runs in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Rogelio Noris doubled down the third base line to bring home two runs, and Kevin Mort followed with a two-run single up the middle.

Power starting pitcher Eliecer Navarro kept Kannapolis off balance, allowing just one hit through the first four innings. Navarro (2-0) allowed a pair of runs in the fifth inning and finished the night surrendering two runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts to earn the win.

Kannapolis got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning when Rangel Ravelo doubled to lead off the inning, and Collin Kuhn's sacrifice fly brought Ravelo home. Keenyn Walker followed with a two- out single and took second base on a wild pitch before scoring on a Carlos Sanchez single to centerfield.

The Power got both runs back in the top of the sixth making it 6-2 before the Intimidators tacked on another run in the bottom of the frame. Dan Black led off the inning with his league-leading 33rd double, and Ravelo cashed him on a single to left field.

Intimidators starter Matt Heidenreich (10-8) worked six innings in a losing effort, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts. After allowing four runs in the second inning, Heidenreich did retire 12 of 13 batters before allowing a leadoff single in the sixth inning.

Reliever Chase Cooney retired all six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings with one strikeout.

Power reliever Zac Fuesser worked three innings behind Navarro. After allowing a run in the sixth, Fuesser kept Kannapolis off the board in the seventh and eighth innings. Casey Sadler tossed a scoreless ninth for the save (2).
