Birmingham, AL - The Jacksonville Suns topped the Birmingham Barons in game one of their doubleheader Friday night by a score of 6-3 at The Baseball Park In Jacksonville.

All six runs for the Suns were scored against Spencer Arroyo (8-6, 3.30) who allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits over 4.1 IP. Derek Dietrich started the scoring early with a two run double in the first inning, part of a three-run inning that gave the Suns a 3-0 lead.

The Suns would put together another three-run inning in the fifth, getting a two-run double by Mark Canha and a sacrifice fly by J.T. Realmuto to give the Suns a 6-0 lead they would not relinquish.

The Barons would get on the board in the 7th on back-to-back RBI doubles by Keenyn Walker and David Herbek to cut the deficit to 6-3 but weren't able to complete the comeback falling to 71-52 and 27-26 in the second half while Jacksonville improved to 65-54 and 31-21 in the second half.

Suns starter Justin Nicolino (3-2, 5.52) baffled the Barons over 6.0 scoreless frames, allowing just three hits and striking out 13 Barons batters. Edgar Olmos retired the final three batters of the game for Jacksonville.
