Columbia, SC- Another close loss, but a loss just the same for the Hagerstown. The Suns longest losing streak of the year, nine, and lowest point of the season, 15-35 in the second half and 43-74 overall has ocurred with a 5-3 loss Monday against the Capital City Bombers.
The Suns led after their first at-bat for the sixth time during this nine game losing streak, 2-0 after the top of the first. The Capital City Bombers gained the lead on a two-run homer by DH Blake Whealy off Ryan Sadowski in the third inning. Whealy added another homer later to put the final distance of two runs up over Hagerstown. The Bombers (29-18, 73-44) have five homers in the two victories.
Sadowski (2-8) went six innings and gave up four runs on seven hits to get the loss. He struck out six, and has 21 K's in his last three starts, 17 innings. Aaron Sobieraj gave up one run on three hits in two relief innings.
Tim Hutting was 3-5 for the second straight game, but also grounded into a double-play in the ninth for the second straight night. Hutting has hit safely in 13 of 14 games. Jason Columbus had a two-run double to give the Suns a 2-0 lead in the first and has five RBI's in two games.
Tuesday, game three of four will see LHP Travis Nesmith (1-7) going at Capital City's RHP Tanner Osberg (7-7).
