Kannapolis, NCâ The RiverDogs unleashed 24 hits on five different Kannapolis pitchers en route to Tuesday night's 17-7 shellacking of the Intimidators at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Mark Schleicher had a big night for Charleston going 4-5 with 2RBI. Wes Bankston was 3-6 with the games only long ball, a three run home run in the third inning.
Luis Pena suffered the loss, his second, allowing five runs on six hits in an inning and a third. Reliever Michael Moat was the hardest hit, though, coughing up eight runs on 11 hits.
While everything was going wrong for Kannapolis, Charleston managed to stay out of trouble. The RiverDogs jumped out to an 11-0 lead after two and a half innings.
The Intimidators avoided a shutout in the bottom of the third inning scoring four runs off RiverDog starter Josh Kranawetter who earned his fourth win tossing five innings of work. Carlos Lee doubled with the bases loaded driving in three runs in the frame.
Kannapolis looks to even the four-game series with a noon time start Wednesday afternoon at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
